SATCoL’s eLearning recognised in Positive Business Impact Award category
Salvation Army Trading Company (SATCoL) has been put forward and selected as a finalist in the Nimble 2021 Positive Business Impact award.
The award recognises companies who can demonstrate significant business impact through the use of eLearning. SATCoL launched its Nimble-based eLearning platform, The Learning Booth, in May 2020. Named after The Salvation Army’s founder, William Booth, the platform delivers bespoke training to SATCoL’s 850 staff members and 3,500 volunteers.
Sarah Trivett, Training and HR Manager at SATCoL, said: “Learning and development is a priority and SATCoL’s objective was to deliver a structured learning platform providing important training in a consistent manner across its teams. Training had also been raised as a development priority on our first employee engagement survey in 2019, and so we knew that there was an appetite for further learning and development.”
Sarah continued: “The launch was delayed due to the pandemic but the business took the decision to introduce The Learning Booth in May 2020 which offered valuable training for many staff on furlough, and also played a crucial role in delivering health & safety and back-to-work courses post-lockdown.”
Tracy Smith, SATCoL’s Learning and Development Officer, has developed the courses with subject-matter experts across the diverse business divisions, which includes retail, clothing collection, SP&S and support functions. Tracy said: “The Learning Booth has been a phenomenal success with 1,539 colleagues completing 23,439 courses so far. Engagement was a key objective and this has been borne out in the results.”
Highlights of The Learning Booth’s success includes:
95% of paid colleagues have logged on at least once
70 different courses have been created and made available for colleagues to study
Completed courses have been finished in an average time of 37 minutes and score of 80%
79% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that the courses on TLB will be useful in their job role
82% rated the course navigation as easy or very easy
83% rated the courses as good or excellent
85% rated the range of courses as good or excellent
The awards will take place on Thursday 16th September at an online event. SATCoL would like to extend congratulations to all the finalists.
